The new Lonely Planet Travel with Children: Your Complete Resource has just been published its "Top 10" list for beach holidays includes Tavira, in the Algarve as one of the top destinations for families looking for a beach vacation. And, the book names Lisbon as one of the Top 10 City Breaks. The book's emphasis on international travel may seem somewhat exotic to Americans who are less familiar with destinations outside North America and Europe, but it stresses the value of world travel for kids.  Lonely Planet founders Tony and Maureen Wheeler traveled often with their children from the time they were babies. So, Travel with Children offers advice on how to minimize problems by picking the right destinations, remaining flexible, and involving kids in planning and problem-solving.

Casa Velha do Palheiro opens Palheiro SPA

In May 2009 a new section of Madeira’s Palheiro Estate complex was opened, Palheiro Spa, which joins Palheiro Gardens, Palheiro Golf and the Inn Casa Velha do Palheiro. The new Spa was designed by the architect Bruno Martins aiming a blend with the surrounding area. There are four treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam bath, two pools (one indoor and another outdoor), and a fitness room available to the customers. The massage menu made up of organic natural products, also directed to golfers, and non invasive body and facial treatments are also available. Set high in the hills overlooking Funchal, Casa Velha is a five-star country house hotel with a history stretching back more than 200 years. Spa at Monte Real Reborn in 27 million Euro make over

The Lena Group has finished a  27 million euros makeover of the historic Parque Termal de Monte Real. The project renovated  both the grand hotel and spa, and created a new wellness center. The wellness center now offer 4 kilometers of trails on 24 metric acres of gardens and forest. The newly reborn resort offers the best intentional treatments, and theories, as well as world class lodging, and a family friendly experience. Water type / Sulfur, and calcic. Monte Real is today one of the most popular spa towns in the country. The Monte Real hot springs and spa are within the Pinhal (pine forest) of Leiria, in a region with several attractions, such as the beaches, the towns of Leiria and Marinha Grande and the Monasteries of Batalha and Alcobaça (classified as World Heritage sites). Important archaeological remain discovered between 1807 and 1810 showed that the Romans knew of the Monte Real springs. Among the artifacts found were various coins that are now housed in the National Archaeological Museum.  Although it not known when the present town of Monte Real was founded , there are documents that link it to the reign of Dom Dinis (14th century) and the time the Leiria Pine Forest was planted.
 

New spa and athletic club opens at CS Madeira Atlantic
