The first phase of opening for the Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort took place 7 miles from Óbidos in the Oeste tourist region north of Lisbon. Covering a total area of 65 metric acres, the €200 million ($266 million USD) development incorporates an 18-hole Sevy Ballesteros-designed golf course with clubhouse (due to be officially inaugurated in January 2012), a five-star hotel, spa, restaurants, bars, a conference center and various real estate options.
