Coimbra Arts Festival 2012

The 4th Arts Festival promises to be the best ever. After “Noite”, “Água” and “Paixões,” come a theme of “Viagens”, motivated by the celebration of 440 years of publishing of the epic poem The Lusiadas, by Luis de Camões.
This festival will be held in Quinta das Lagrimas, Coimbra, Centro de Portugal Region between July 13 and 29, 2012 and is organized by Fundação Inês de Castro.
Among the artists in this Arts Festival are: Christoph Prégardien and Artur Pizarro, with the Orchestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Macao Chinese Orchestra, House of Music, and Clássica do Centro, Drumming, Musicians of the Tejo, António Chainho, Nelson Garrido featuring photographs of Casa das Caldeiras in the Desert , r the drawings of Antonio Jorge Gonçalves in "Subway Life"; programming film travel through the eyes of Antonio Mega Ferreira, through films like Fitzcarraldo, Werner Herzog and The Motorcycle Diaries, Walter Salles ; Diogo Infante who recites, to the accompaniment of John Gil, the Maritime Ode; ambassadors Antonio Monteiro, Francisco Seixas da Costa and Marcello Mathias conference to discuss The Voyage of the Portuguese five centuries later: Asia, Brazil, Africa, Antonio Fonseca, who share the 3rd Corner Lusíadas a reading to be held in Baroque Library, Gonçalo Cadilhe workshop on travel writing, the presence of writers Faria Almeida, Gonçalo M.Tavares and Inês Pedrosa, Laura Baptista Trio that will soften the late afternoon a board the Basófias, and finally ... and José Avillez Miguel Vieira who come with spice flavors to fill the Festival of the Arts.
Also noteworthy is the tribute to the Portuguese musician Bernardo Sassetti who inaugurated the Camões Hill Amphitheatre and had so unforgettably marked the Festival das Artes.
