Two wastewater ponds from the former
Tavira, Algarve ETAR (water treatment plant) could be turned into a bird watching site. The idea is to create a bird sanctuary and also an observatory. The project is called Parque da Natureza (
Nature Park) with a two-storey observatory in front of a hotel and a viewing point for watching birds. The
Nature Park, with an area of 7.5 metric acres, plans to recover two ponds for the treatment of wastewater that were no longer needed after the construction of the new Tavira ETAR. The cost of the Nature Park Project could be about 100,000 euros and the
Nature Park will be up and running in 2011.
