Madeira Flower Festival to Go ahead in April as Planned

The president of Madeira's regional government, Alberto João Jardim say the island's famous Flower Festival will go ahead as planned this April 15 to 18, 2010. The festival  draws thousands of tourists from around the world. The Flower Festival, that takes place when the island’s flowers are at their best, has been one of the major attractions for both visitors and locals for years. This colorful festival features a parade and floats through the streets of Funchal exhibits and perfumes the air with a variety of flower species. Streets in the historic section of Funchal are decorated with carpets made of live flowers.
