The Porto Bay Hotels & Resorts Group has acquired a new unit next to the Santo da Serra golf course. The unit underwent a series of renovations before reopening on March 18, 2012 under the name Porto Bay Serra Golf.

With 22 rooms, Porto Bay Serra Golf features a remodeled welcome lounge, a new indoor heated swimming pool, a sauna and massage rooms and 19 remodeled guest rooms with pillow-top mattresses, quilts, heating, a DVD system, mini bar, iPod docking station, a tea and coffee station, armoires, and bathrooms featuring “Rituals” brand amenities.

The two superior rooms and suite, located in the main house,  were also updated with the same facilities. These rooms are decorated in the traditional Madeiran farmhouse style, offering a unique, inviting and exquisite experience for its guests. The suite, with direct access to the gardens, features two bedrooms, a living room with fireplace, two bathrooms, a kitchenette and three televisions. The hotel features hotel-wide wi-fi with ethernet outlets.

Guests can sip on afternoon tea and nibble on housemade scones in front of a roaring fire in the hotel's new lounge. The Avó Micas restaurant, reading and activity room, gymnasium, library and video library complete the hotel's indoor offerings, but the enjoyment doesn't stop here: guests can take advantage of a variety of activities around Santo da Serra, including nature trails, bicycle paths, horseback riding and golf.  Porto Bay's guests are also permitted free access to all public facilities at neighboring Vila Port Mare Resort, including swimming pools
