Ten stainless steel kiosks will be adapted to house the restaurants that serve pre-prepared food. The restaurants will be local, as well represent different countries, as well as renowned chefs. It is planned to offer restaurants with Chinese, African, Japanese, Indian, Portuguese food and beyond. The kiosks and the terrace will work 365 days a year and week-ends there will be a series of activities that are multiculturalism, maintaining and deepening flavor acquired by Mouraria district in recent years as a meeting place of peoples and cultures. The new market will bring together a wide variety of small businesses, ranging from clothes to groceries. In the square will be installed a stage almost at ground level, to reduce the visual impact, which will offer regular live music performances, workshops, conferences, exhibitions and performances. The current intervention in the marketplace is integrated into the Action Plan Mouraria and results of a plan launched in October , which launched the tender for the concession to operate the kiosks and the organization of the market. Martim Moniz was a Portuguese knight - who in the 1147 Siege of Lisbon saw the Moors closing the castle doors. He led an attack on the doors, and sacrificed himself by lodging himself in the gate, preventing the defenders from fully closing it. This bought time for his soldiers to secure the gate, leading to the capture of the city.Lisboa Photo Gallery
