New Hotel Rural Monte Xisto - Alentejo

A new inn called Hotel Rural Monte Xisto, a rural hotel, has opened in Herdade do Juncalinho Vale das Éguas, about 10 miles south of Santiago Cacém. Here you can choose between the privacy of a country house, a two bedroom with a private garden, or one of the ten rooms that make up the main building. Each room reveals “a unique environment”. Besides the colors and decoration, it is also possible to distinguish, by name, spaces that reflect popular Portuguese expressions. Among the names, “Here's Cat,” “Soul Mate,” “Toes Wool” or "Thirty One Line”. Two sets of rooms are interconnecting and one (“Drop of Water”) is adapted for disabled guests. The cuisine is also an integral part of the offer, with Salpicos restaurant (guests pay 30 euros for dinner). A night in Monte Xisto costs from 100 euros (single room / low season) to 290 euros (house/high season). A double reserves between 110 euros and 140 euros.

Portimão brings together 41 establishments on October 14, 2012 to offer regional cuisine (with snacks at 2.5 euros) activities and prizes. Several restaurants and bakeries in the Algarve City of Portimão will be offering Petiscos. The stars of the menu are appetizers like the cockle papinhas de berbigão, fried pieces of cod and sardines and tuna xalassa feijoada de lingueirão. Herdade do Esporão ( Reguengos Monsaraz) opens wine restaurant

The Herdade do Esporão in Reguengos Monsaraz, after more than three years of construction has a wine restaurant aimed at enthusiasts of wine culture and Alentejo cuisine to strengthen the connection to the roots of the Alentejo and Portugal.

With a couple of wines and olive oils of Esporão, gastronomy is another cornerstone of the new wine restaurant. The dishes are based on the richness of Alentejo cuisine and entails creative recipes that recreate the memory of a culture rich in flavors and aromas. According to the chef Miguel Vaz "this is a journey to the roots of the region and the flavors of yesteryear, through the use of products from our garden."

The intervention sought to focus on wine tourism and enhance the educational and recreational component. It made ​​a significant investment in the expansion of architectural spaces, created three new gardens that connect wineries and vineyards, and built a new restaurant, with twice the capacity of the former, a multipurpose room with capacity for 110 people, a wine bar and a large store. The kitchen has been completely revamped, according to the highest standards of quality and functionality.

 

Odemira to build new mountain trail network

The Alentejo coastal town of Odemira is implementing a network of a thousand miles of trails for mountain biking, attracting fans of nature tourism and sports activities. The project is still at an early stage, currently creating and planning new routes, according to Helder Guerreiro, Mayor of Odemira. Accommodations and lodging will be made available, including locations where cyclists can stock up on water, take a shower or fix their bicycles. The project should be completed within one year and stems from an agreement established between the town and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the New University of Lisbon. The focus on nature tourism is not new in the city of Odemira. At the end of May about 200 kilometers of walking trails were opened to the public.
