Portugal sees a 17.4% rise in American hotel guests in the 1st quarter

The numbers for American visitors to Portugal for the fist quarter are out - and they beat forecast: American hotel receipts: were up +2.1% versus 2009, the number of American hotel guests jumped by +17.4%, and overnights were up by +10.8%. In early 2010, the forecast has been for a 3 to 4% increase - but massive publicity from ABC's The Bachelorette, NY Times, as well as the 2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit and J. Crew has heightened interest in Portugal.
