New! Sintra Natural History Museum

The new Sintra Natural History Museum found right in the center of the historic town outside of Lisbon. Set in a former 19th century market. It now houses a collection of fossils with a glimpse at the natural world. The permanent exhibition area includes space for temporary exhibits, as well as a shop and cafe. Many of the pieces of the permanent collection date back to millions of years, but 21st -century technology helps to tell their tale. Highlights include dinosaur eggs and meteorites, and the world's only example of a flying reptile, the Braseodactylus, which is not only a unique, find but also completely intact. The museum is free, open every day except Mondays, and open from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M.
