The Gold Museum (Museu do Ouro de Travassos) was created in 2001 to promote and enhance the work carried out by the goldsmiths of Travassos, a village with many workshops. During the 50 years that he spent working as a goldsmith, Francisco de Carvalho e Sousa collected the pieces and documents now on display. The exhibition features the equipment used in workshops, the tools used by the goldsmiths themselves, some silver objects and various pieces made of gold. It also includes some archaeological finds, such as a crown from the Copper Age and a Roman earring. www.museudoouro.com
