Silves in the Algarve opens new cultural history museum

The Museu do Traje e das Tradições, or the Museum of Costume and Traditions, has recently opened with exhibits highlighting Southern Portuguese culture from the 19th and 20th centuries. Located in a characteristically Algarve house at the entrance to the village of Silves, the museum focuses on the region’s traditional music, dance, hand-made crafts and clothing. As much a part of the museum as the displays themselves, the historic Museu do Traje e das Tradições house and three chimneys recently underwent a complete restoration by Silves Câmara architect Carla Alfarrobinha. http://www.silvesuncovered.com/
