Portugal's Art Biennial 10 spreads across the country

Public art, sculpture, installations, painting and multimedia are just a tiny part of the expressions that inspire Portugal Art Biennale 10 - EDP, an international exhibition of contemporary art ever on until August 10th, and running in Lisbon, Setúbal, Portimão and Vila Real de Santo António.Featured in this show will be close to 600 works from 246 renowned artists from 14 countries, including Portugal, with names like Ana Cardoso, Ana Manso, Ana Santos, Fernanda Fragateiro, Gabriel Abrantes, Isabel Carvalho, João Louro, Joao Pedro Vale, John Slater, Miguel Alvarez, Miguel Paiva, Paulo Brighenti, Barateiro Pedro, Pedro Calapez and Rodrigo Oliveira.
Will be the eight exhibitions, each related to different themes of contemporary life: Billboard Project and Temple, both exclusively with public art projects, and California Dreamin, 'Gradations, Outsider Insider, Personal Freedom, Points of View and Serendipity, all presented both indoors and outdoors.
Rua Augusta, Rua de Santa Justa Rua Garrett, Rossio, Restorers, Largo do Chiado, Largo Camões Square, St. Carlos and Largo Trindade Coelho, Belem in Lisbon, Garden May 1st, Largo San Sebastian and Marina Troy Grândola, Jardim Visconde Bívar and Riverside Area of Portimão and Bridges Between Avenue of the Republic in Vila Real de Santo Antonio are the outer will be a showcase of the works on display.
In Lisbon, Portugal Pavilion is the core of the collective exhibitions, which are present also at the Municipal Library of Grandola in Time - Teatro Municipal de Portimão and Centro Cultural António Aleixo, in Vila Real de San Antonio.

The Museu dos Fósforos in Tomar, north of Lisbon, strikes a collection of more than 40,000 matchboxes from more than 100 countries are on display. The largest collection of its kind in Europe is housed in the historic former Convento de São Francisco. It was amassed by 'phillumenist' Aquiles da Mota Lima from the 1950s to the 1980s. The Museu do Traje e das Tradições, or the Museum of Costume and Traditions, has recently opened with exhibits highlighting Southern Portuguese culture from the 19th and 20th centuries. Located in a characteristically Algarve house at the entrance to the village of Silves, the museum focuses on the region’s traditional music, dance, hand-made crafts and clothing. A new museum, boat tours, and a two-mile trail are all part of this flavorful new experience. The salt museum is located in the seaside resort town of Figueira da Foz, at the mouth of the river Mondego and next to the salt pans of Corredor da Cobra. Visitors can gain new insight into one of the most precious substances in human history. Here you can learn of the history of salt, the evolution of the production of salt in Portugal, the salt pans of Figueira, and how salt is part of our global environment. Then hop on an historic salt boat to see the salt ponds, and learn how salt is produced for export.
