The B & B Hotel Porto Centro opened in the former Águia d’Ouro do Porto Cinema. A "budget hotel" marks the debut of the international chain B & B in Portugal. B & B says the group is "one of the largest in Europe", and the Porto project involved an investment of about seven million euros. The building, dating to 1897 and abandoned since 1989, was in ruin. The project preserves the imposing façade. The B & B hotel offers 125 rooms (including single, double, family and the disabled), distributed over six floors, with views. Each room has private bathroom, flat screen TV, air conditioning and "excellent soundproofing." B & B hotels are coming next to Evora, Lisbon (2), Oeiras, Porto and Coimbra. The price of a night in double room starts at € 39.90. www.bbhotels.pt
