Turismo de Portugal’s recent awards focused on the best of the best in Portuguese tourism. One big winner was the recently opened
Pousada de Estoi in the
Algarve, which was considered the crème de la crème of
Portugal's accommodations. Set in an 19th century palace which belonged to the Viscount of Estoi's family right up until 1987, the 63-room Pousada represents a €15 million investment. And, the five-star
Tivoli Victoria in Vilamoura, which took the Best New Private Project award, has a panoramic view over the fairways of the new
Victoria golf course, designed by legendary golfer and architect Arnold Palmer.
Casa da Ínsua, a charm-style hotel located in the provincial town of
Viseu, Centro, won up the Best Privately Renovated Project Award
