Hotel Porto Ribeira opened in March 2012 in the historic center of Porto, and is the result of comprehensive rehabilitation of five National Landmark listed buildings in Ribeira, distinguished as World Heritage. It is a four-star hotel in the best of locations, with stunning views of the Douro River. There is a wide range of services, and guests can enjoy the new Forno Velho restaurant, with cooking as you watch.

PortoSense Apartments, opened in April 2012, are located in the heart of Porto’s Ribeira. They are installed in a restored building, including a magnificent eighteenth-century fountain, and decorated with Portugal’s Coat of Arms. They are modern, practical and well equipped for a stay.

Tattva Design Hostel consists of two beautiful buildings classified as "World Heritage." They have been totally recovered and refurbished to make the largest hostel in Porto, with breathtaking views on the higher floors. With 16 rooms and a capacity of 116 people in total (female dorms, mixed dorms and double rooms), Tattva provides a unique experience in terms of comfort.


 

New hotel in Penamacor

The first hotel in Penamacor (Centro de Portugal) will be completed by the end of July 2012 with double the capacity of the initial project. Run by Gumercindo Oliveira Lourenço, who has the hotels in Penafiel and Fornos de Algodres, the three star hotel will offer 100 rooms, including six suites, two of which were installed in tower-like castles. The number of jobs created will be doubled under the initial project, and the hotel will offer a thermal water spa.

 

New Serra Golf Hotel in Madeira's Porto Bay

The Porto Bay Hotels & Resorts Group has acquired a new unit next to the Santo da Serra golf course. The unit underwent a series of renovations before reopening on March 18, 2012 under the name Porto Bay Serra Golf.

With 22 rooms, Porto Bay Serra Golf features a remodeled welcome lounge, a new indoor heated swimming pool, a sauna and massage rooms and 19 remodeled guest rooms with pillow-top mattresses, quilts, heating, a DVD system, mini bar, iPod docking station, a tea and coffee station, armoires, and bathrooms featuring “Rituals” brand amenities.

The two superior rooms and suite, located in the main house,  were also updated with the same facilities. These rooms are decorated in the traditional Madeiran farmhouse style, offering a unique, inviting and exquisite experience for its guests. The suite, with direct access to the gardens, features two bedrooms, a living room with fireplace, two bathrooms, a kitchenette and three televisions. The hotel features hotel-wide wi-fi with ethernet outlets.

Guests can sip on afternoon tea and nibble on housemade scones in front of a roaring fire in the hotel's new lounge. The Avó Micas restaurant, reading and activity room, gymnasium, library and video library complete the hotel's indoor offerings, but the enjoyment doesn't stop here: guests can take advantage of a variety of activities around Santo da Serra, including nature trails, bicycle paths, horseback riding and golf.  Porto Bay's guests are also permitted free access to all public facilities at neighboring Vila Port Mare Resort, including swimming pools

 

Park Hotel Porto Airport is open

ANA Airports of Portugal says that the Park Hotel Porto Airport, opposite the Airport Francisco Sa Carneiro, is now open and offers 80 rooms. The result of an investment of 3.7 millions euros, the new hotel is the first on-airport hotel to open in Portugal. The unit operates under the brand National Park Hotel and is a partnership agreement between the ANA and the Park Hotel Porto Airport, SA, which was the promoter of the project.

 

Lisboa gets a new A.M.A 242 Hostel

The AMA 242 Aurea Lisbonne Hostel is set to opened soon at 242 Rua Augusta in downtown Lisbon. The building dates from 1922 and was completely renovated in 2002. With an area of 1.000m2, spread over five floors, the hostel has 16 rooms, 146 bunk beds, a coffee-shop/bar and a living room equipped with countless entertainment. Each of the four floors comprises of a bedroom with two twin beds featuring en suite bathroom, 34-bunk beds spread over three quarters, and two baths (male / female), each with five showers and three toilets. All rooms are equipped with telephone, Internet, electronic, BC, fire detectors, and drawers to store valuables and clothing.On the first floor of the hostel there is a coffee shop / bar. The AMA Aurea 242 includes daily breakfast, served between 7:30 a.m. and 11:00, and offers Turkish bath and face towels at check-in.
