Grande Hotel do Porto reopens

The Grande Hotel do Porto has been renovated and reopened maintaining the classic lines of the original model. Each of its 94 rooms is fully equipped with direct dial telephone, individually controlled air-conditioning, safe-deposit box, mini-bar, electronic wake-up alarm call and satellite TV. Hotel amenities also include a bar and reference rooms, as well as Renascença Restaurant, which specializes in traditional Portuguese dishes and international cuisine.

 

Quinta da Marinha to open Onyria Marinha Edition Hotel & Thalasso: a new luxury boutique hotel in 2011

A 5-star project is under construction at the Quinta da Marinha in Cascais. Grupo Onyria is entering the final phase of construction of a luxury hotel and residential tourism development. The project was placed in the hands of designers: architect João Paciência and landscape architect Francisco Caldeira Cabral.  The new 5-star hotel will be called the Onyria Marinha Edition Hotel & Thalasso. It will have 68 deluxe rooms, four suites, restaurants and conference rooms, as well as a Thalassotherapy spa. Some of the rooms located on the upper levels will have rooftop Jacuzzis with an ocean view. The new development sits at the heart of the Quinta da Marinha, where the hunting lodge of Portugal’s King Carlos once stood.  To make the most of the nearby sea water, Thalassotherapy will be included the hotel’s spa, with a wide variety of therapeutic, beauty, relaxation and leisure options to choose from. The Quinta da Marinha currently has five restaurants that offer different specialties (fish & seafood, Italian, international buffet, a la carte and a snack bar).  Onyria group plans to have all construction work completed by March 2011.
 

Nisa to get new Hotel

The Monte Filipe Hotel & Spa is the latest hotel to be built in Alpalhão near the Alentejo’s Nisa. The new four-star hotel has the support of the Tourism of Portugal and will offer a natural escape. After it’s opening, the hotel will join the Naturtejo Geopark. Monte Filipe Hotel & Spa will be located 5 kilometers from the spa complex of Fadagosa, and will also have a spa with four beauty treatments and wellness rooms, sauna, steam bath and Jacuzzi, indoors and outdoors. The hotel unit has 48 double rooms, two suites and two rooms for the disabled, plus a restaurant, meeting room and craft shop.

Aldeia de Cidadelhe to get 5-star hotel

The village of Cidadelhe in Mesão Frio will get an investment of six million euros for the restoration of a fort and the building of a five-star hotel. Work starts this June on the 44 room hotel. The hotel will keep the original outline of a seventeenth century manor house, the Quinta do Paço de Cidadelhe and include a spa, restaurant, bar and museum. The ruins of the fort will be restored, and the area will become a park with species native to the surrounding area.
