Bird watching

Today, bird watching tourism in Portugal is growing, places like the Natural Park of the Douro, the International Natural Park Montesinho, and Azibo, the protected area of the Douro valley and its tributaries, are all sought after destinations for bird watching. These "sanctuaries" of nature and biodiversity are home to hundreds of bird species. The steep cliff of the Douro offers home to some rare species. Along the Douro International Park one may see the Vulture-of-Egypt (or britango), Griffin, Bonelli's eagle, black stork and owl - all examples of large birds that are easily seen crossing the skies with their graceful movements.

Traveling to those places are at your disposal as well as access to viewing areas dedicated to the study and dissemination of birdlife, plus new tourist cruises.

At the suggestion of JN, and for those who like to travel with the family, the same goes for a visit to the region of the plateau and adjacent valleys Mirandese. Bragança Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo (Guarda), is always touching the borderline, and the adventurous can discover a part of the "wonderful kingdom." In this context, there are many paths that can lead visitors to discover the unique moments of pleasure and well-being.
